Summary
PUBLIC BETA - Freedom Fighters add-on: supplied mortars, one-man AI crews, an Artillery Panel and radio fire missions. Please send feedback: https://github.com/FatihHekim0glu/FF-Series-Feedback
Description
PUBLIC BETA - please send feedback, bugs and ideas: https://github.com/FatihHekim0glu/FF-Series-Feedback
FF Mortar gives Freedom Fighters a working artillery arm.
Mortars refill their own crates from base supplies, one-man AI crews stay at their guns, and anyone with a radio can bring one mortar or a whole battery down on a map point.
Part of the FF series with FF Supply Lines (virtual supply convoys):

WHAT YOU GET
- Supplied mortars: an 8-round crate (HE, smoke, flare) that refills from the nearest base.
- Artillery Hub: a buildable tent whose radio opens the Artillery Panel.
- Crewed mortars: a one-man AI crew that stays at the gun.
- No cooldowns: a free mortar takes your order, busy ones queue it.
- Battery fire that lands within metres of the target.
- Fire missions that fire even far from any player.
QUICK START
1. Build an Artillery Hub at a base or FOB (300 supplies), then a "Mortar (crewed)" at the same base (300 supplies + 520 money).
2. At the Hub's radio: F > Open Artillery Panel > Resupply: set the round mix and reserve, Apply.
3. Fire mission > HE, x3 > Pick target on map > right-click the target > "Fire: HE x3 (Artillery Hub)".
RESUPPLY
- Every 30 s a crate buys up to 2 rounds from the nearest base or FOB of your side: HE 15, smoke 5, flare 3 supplies.
- Mortars and crew replacements never take a base below its reserve (at least 50, 100 by default).
THE ARTILLERY PANEL
- Overview: base supplies, your money, every mortar of the base, its crate and crew.
- Resupply: round mix, min supply reserve (50 to 1000), auto-refill, cost of a full crate.
- Fire mission: Single or Battery, type, x1 / x3 / x5, the Hub's queue (cancel your own orders), the last 5 missions.
- Log: the Hub's last 20 events, with player names.
CREWS AND VIRTUAL FIRE
- The crewman stays at his gun between missions; a dead one is replaced after 3 minutes for base supplies.
- When no player is near or the crew is asleep, gone or failing, the server fires the rounds itself, one crate shell each.
CALLING FIRE
- With a switched-on military radio: J > Mortar fire mission > right-click the map.
- Single: a free mortar fires. Battery: all of a Hub's mortars fire one barrage. Busy mortars: the order waits in the Hub's queue, first come first served ("position 2, starts in about 35 s").
- Single fire lands at a third of a crew's spread (about 5 m at 900 m); a battery within about 5 m of the target with 3 to 6 guns.
- Crate shells first, then supplies above the reserve buy the rest. Short: "2 of 3 rounds: not enough supplies"; none: refused, nothing charged.
- Toasts: accepted or queued (with ETA), shot, splash, complete; every refusal says why.
- HE reaches 100 to 2300 m; mortars blocked by a wall skip those directions.
SERVER ADMINS
- Settings: optional $profile:FFM_Mortar/settings.json (HE price, crate size, reserve, toasts, crew caps, virtualFire, accuracyMultiplier = 3, batteryRadiusM = 5, batteryAccuracyMultiplier = 6); bad values are logged, the default kept.
- Saves: Hubs and crewed mortars are FF build items; crates, Hub settings and queues are FF Mortar's own record, saved with FF's saves, so a crash rolls crates and supplies back together. FF's save format is never changed.
- Clean stop: #shutdown writes the shutdown save; a killed server goes back to FF's last autosave (10 min).
- Never remove the mod from a running campaign.
COMPATIBILITY
- Requires Freedom Fighters (plus EDF and EPF).
- Runs with Freedom Fighters Plus, FF Logistic, Loot Transfer System (+ FF_Logistics_LTS_Compat), FF Freedom Engineers and FF Supply Lines.
- Do not load "AI Mortar Fire Support System" alongside.
KNOWN LIMITS
- Up to 10 crewed mortars per base, 30 per server, both configurable; only FF's own buildable mortar is supported.
- After a restart each crewed mortar gets a fresh crewman.
- Killing your own crew counts as a friendly kill.
- Accurate rounds drop from 200 m: a shell seen climbing vanishes at its top.
