Summary
Handheld translation device for talking to locals - not working on 1.8, see description
Description
NOT WORKING ON ARMA REFORGER 1.8
Arma Reforger 1.8 changed radio delivery so that a transmission only arrives through a
relay in range of both people, and this device's transceiver reaches only a few metres.
Bohemia have confirmed that behaviour is a bug. The 1.8.0.13 radio fix does NOT restore
this device: two of them side by side still deliver nothing. The mod waits on a later
build rather than being rebuilt around behaviour that is going to change, and nothing
below needs changing when delivery works again.
WHAT IT DOES
A handheld translation device. Hold one, hand a second to the person you want
to speak to, select the translator in your radio menu, and the two of you can
understand each other.
Range is a few metres, so you have to stand with them. Both parties need a
device and both need it selected.
It exists so that talking to a civilian or a prisoner is something a player
does in the world rather than something arranged out of character.
The device is an ordinary gadget-slot item, so you can add it to an arsenal
catalogue, put it in a character loadout for an interpreter role, or place one
from the Game Master mid-operation. It sits in the hand with its button under
the thumb, and rests on its back when put down.
No dependencies, nothing to configure.
