Summary
A more detailed map, an honest height readout, and bases that appear as your network reaches them.
Description
ATG Map improves the map surface itself. Four things, and each one can be left alone.
TERRAIN DETAIL
Contours every 10 metres with a major line every 50 at the closest zoom, loosening as you
zoom out. Walls drawn with an outline from the second view layer, so a compound reads as a
compound. Tourist and general footpaths from the third. Hills labelled from lower ground
than the base game uses. This is configuration rather than rendering, and it applies to
every world.
THE HEIGHT READOUT
The map cursor reports the height of the surface somebody would actually stand on. The
base game answers from the heightmap alone, so anywhere terrain is built from placed
geometry - cliffs, boulder fields, whole ranges assembled out of rock props - it reports
the ground buried underneath rather than the surface being walked on.
THE DISCOVERED SET
A base is drawn while your faction can reach it by radio, or while your faction owns it.
The map fills in as a faction pushes its network outward instead of being visible from the
first minute. Applies to Conflict-style worlds that have bases; a world with none is
unaffected. It only ever removes, so another mod's reasons for hiding a base survive. It
is cosmetic - what it withholds is the picture, not the information behind it.
MAP CENTRING
Each player chooses whether opening the map jumps to their own position. With ATG Core
loaded this appears on the ATG tab of the settings menu.
Map markers are switched off on the deploy screen, where they obscure the spawn points
that are the only thing on it anyone needs. The full map is unaffected.
MILITARY SYMBOLOGY
Contacts and groups are drawn as APP-6 military symbols rather than as plain icons: frame,
fill and echelon read the way a military map reads. Symbols are assembled from a texture
atlas at draw time, so a symbol costs one widget rather than one per element.
Which symbol a group gets is driven by a rule set you can author, so a server running its
own factions gets its own symbology without touching script.
LOAD ORDER
ATG Core is optional. With it loaded BEFORE this mod, the server settings are readable
from $profile:ATG/atg-map.json.
