ATG UI

ATG UI

Summary

Nametags, killfeed, notifications and the message of the day, set once by the server owner.

Description

ATG UI governs four things a server owner would otherwise have no way to set: how far nametags are drawn, what the killfeed tells players, which notifications appear, and what the server says to a player when they arrive. It draws almost nothing of its own. Every other surface it touches is one the base game already has - the mod decides what those surfaces are configured to do, and pushes that decision to every client so all of them agree.

NAMETAGS
Three independent distances: the player's name, the group callsign line beneath it, and
what is drawn while looking through optics. The group line is normally far shorter than
the name - it answers who is beside you, not who is across the valley. 500 metres is the
engine's own ceiling.

KILLFEED
What the feed shows at all, whose deaths a player is shown, and whether a friendly kill is
shown in full anyway. Deaths of AI characters never appear for anyone. A Game Master can
change all three live from the editor attributes.

NOTIFICATIONS
Whether the server announces that a player has joined. Game Master and administrator
rights announcements are dropped outright - on a server that logs its staff in
automatically, those fire on every join and tell players nothing they need.

CARDS AND THE MESSAGE OF THE DAY
A card is a titled dialog with a body, an optional picture and an optional Continue button. You write them in the settings file, each under a key of your own choosing, and the server shows one when it has something to say.
The message of the day is the card matching what the server is currently doing. With nothing supplying that it is the card keyed 'default'; ATG Scenario supplies 'combat' and 'narrative' and the message follows the mode. A player sees it once after their first spawn, and again whenever the server changes what it is doing. It does not block the spawn and nothing is recorded - being in the game is the acceptance.
Set a Discord invite once and every card grows a button that opens it. Leave it empty and no card shows one. An individual card can opt out.
Other mods can ask for a card by name. ATG Link uses one to show its registration gate on screen instead of only in chat.

LOAD ORDER
ATG Core is optional. With it loaded BEFORE this mod, every setting is readable from
$profile:ATG/atg-ui.json, with no Workbench and no mod of your own. Without it the mod
still works and you override its settings file the ordinary way.

Load ATG Core second and this mod silently drops to its own config file, which usually
shows up as players being rejected for a content mismatch rather than anything pointing at
load order.
