Mech Walker

A four-legged armoured walker. Every step shakes the ground.

The walker carries an energy cannon that can hit armour right in front of it, two roof rockets and eight smoke dischargers. Its legs plant on the ground, climb hills and settle when it stops. AI crews drive it and fire it.


CREW
Driver: walk with the normal vehicle keys, from a first-person cockpit with lit screens.
Gunner: the Mech energy cannon, one 10-round magazine of Mech cannon cells and no spare. The gunner sight zooms from 3x to 8x and its reticle shows the shell drop.
Roof rockets: two unguided HEDP rockets. Choose them with the turret weapon switch.
Smoke dischargers: press C to fire a ring of smoke around the walker. 45 s reload. Rebind it under Settings > Keybinds > Mech Walker.
Board from either side; a short fade covers the climb in.


AI
AI crews walk the walker and fire the cannon and the rockets. A seated AI gunner aims as an expert.


GAME MASTER
Two entries in the vehicles list: "Mech Walker" (no crew faction) and "Mech Walker (US)" with US Army markings and a US crew.


EFFECTS AND SOUND
Dust, ground marks and camera shake at each footfall, steam puffs at the leg valves, muzzle flash, energy shell and blast. Own sound design for the steps, the hydraulics and the cannon.


MULTIPLAYER
Tested on a dedicated server with a joined player. AI crews drive and fight with the walker, every player sees its legs walk, and a player can board it, drive it, fire the smoke and get out.

Walker model, textures and walk animations: the Mech from Epic Games' Control Rig samples, modified.
