How it works

A Game Master opens the normal Game Master settings menu, changes whatever they like and confirms.
The server saves each setting that was changed.
The saved settings are applied automatically when the server starts or after a scenario #restart. They’re applied when the first player joins, not at mission load.

Nothing new to learn, and there are no extra menus. Game Masters keep using the settings screen they already know. Settings nobody has changed stay at the game’s normal defaults.

What gets remembered

Any game-wide, server-side Game Master setting that is changed and confirmed. In the vanilla game that’s around 40 settings, including:

Respawn on/off, respawn time and deployable spawn points
Killfeed type, who sees it, and friendly-fire killfeed
Fuel consumption, unconsciousness, bleeding and regeneration
Team-kill punishment, nametag filters and arsenal options

It also remembers other mods’ settings. Settings that other mods add to the Game Master menu, such as sliders, toggles and option lists, are saved with no extra setup. That includes mods that use one setting type for many settings, like RHS.

What is not remembered

Time of day, date, wind speed and wind direction. These describe the moment rather than a preference.
Settings for a selected unit, vehicle or AI group. Only game-wide settings are covered.
Local settings. Settings that only affect one player’s view, such as photo-mode overlays, can’t be applied by the server.
Settings on a dedicated server that rely on systems the server doesn’t have, such as the ambient sound toggle.

Managing your saved settings

Settings are stored in the server’s profile folder, in 6TP_GM_Persistent_Settings, in a file called PersistentGameMasterSettings.json.

Forget one setting: delete its line from the file.
Forget everything: delete the file. Don’t just empty it. A file with no readable settings is treated as damaged and left alone.
Copy your setup to another server: copy the file into the same folder there.

For server admins

Add the mod to your server’s mods list. Players download it automatically.
No configuration is needed. Nothing is remembered until a Game Master changes something.
The saved settings are server-wide, not per Game Master. If several people take turns, the most recent change wins.
A new player joining re-applies the saved settings. Anything already correct is left alone.
If the saved file is damaged, the mod leaves it untouched, logs an error and applies nothing.

Performance

The mod does its work at server start and when a Game Master confirms a change. Nothing runs every frame, and it adds no network traffic of its own.

Compatibility and notes

It uses the game’s own Game Master settings system and doesn’t replace any game files or change how Game Master plays. A major game update could affect it, so check after big patches.
If a mod that added a setting is removed, that setting’s saved value is simply skipped.
If a mod update changes a setting’s options, delete the old saved line for it and set it again.
