Summary
Hemostasis adds new wounds, treatments and medication on top of ACE Medical for milsim gameplay. Test version: currently being tested for use on a live server.
Description
--- TEST VERSION ---
This mod is currently in testing for use on a live server. Features, values and balancing can change at any time. Bugs are possible. Use at your own risk and please report any problems you find.
Hemostasis makes field medicine deeper and more demanding. Wounds can no longer all be fixed with a bandage. Soldiers have to recognize what they are dealing with, carry the right equipment and make decisions under pressure. Every item can be used by every soldier, with no role restrictions.
REQUIREMENTS
- ACE Medical
NEW WOUNDS
- Fractures: caused by explosions, falls and vehicle crashes. A broken leg makes you limp and hurts while moving, a broken arm ruins your aim. A splint stabilizes the fracture in the field; it heals only with a surgical kit at a medical facility.
- Shrapnel: light shrapnel from fragmentation, heavy shrapnel from close explosions. Causes lasting pain, limping and weapon sway. Removed with forceps, but removal leaves a bleed: light shrapnel a light bleed, heavy shrapnel a heavy bleed.
- Internal bleeding (Hematoma, Class I-III): can develop when a casualty falls unconscious, with a rising risk every time. Shrapnel left in the head or torso causes it as well. It cannot be treated in the field, only with a surgical kit at a medical facility.
BLEEDING AND TOURNIQUETS
- Field dressings only close light and moderate bleeding.
- Heavy bleeding needs hemostatic gauze, or a tourniquet followed by a field dressing.
- A dressing under a tourniquet is weak at first. Remove the tourniquet too early and the wound can reopen. Phenylephrine, plasma and TXA lower that risk.
- Tourniquets have a time limit: pain after a few minutes, damage to the limb if left on too long.
SPLINTS
- The splint stays on the limb and is reusable.
- A splinted leg can't sprint, even after the fracture has healed. Take the splint off to sprint again.
- Others remove it with "Remove splint", you remove your own in the health view.
MEDICATION AND FLUIDS
- TXA: strongly slows all bleeding, including internal bleeding, for a short time. Lowers blood pressure. Overdosing is dangerous.
- Ketamine: strong pain relief that lets a wounded soldier walk and shoot normally for a few minutes. Causes tunnel vision. Overdosing knocks you out.
- Freeze-dried plasma: slows all bleeding for several minutes. Saline restores more volume, plasma controls bleeding better.
- ESA Autoinjector: ephedrine-based stimulant that reduces fatigue under heavy load. Wounds bleed faster while it works, exhaustion follows, and an overdose can stop the heart.
TREAT PATIENT WHEEL
- New "Treat patient" interaction on other players opens a treatment wheel: Body, Medication and Vitals.
- Shows the wounds of every body part and only the items that fit.
- Check pulse, blood pressure, breathing and SpO2 directly in the wheel.
- Updates live while open, for example when another medic treats the same patient.
- Can be turned off in Settings > Gameplay for players who prefer ACE's own menu.
FIRST AID KITS
- IFAK and AFAK: worn in their own slot and carry medical supplies only. The AFAK holds about twice as much.
CHECK INJURIES
- Also shows splints, internal bleeding and TXA/ketamine/ESA in the medication log.
