Better Ragdoll

Better Ragdoll Recovery Patch
A small compatibility and recovery addon for CasperJ's Better Ragdoll mod for Arma Reforger.

Overview
Better Ragdoll adds physical knockdown reactions to gunfire, explosions, melee impacts, and collisions, creating more dynamic combat encounters.
During testing, we encountered an issue where characters could remain trapped in the ragdoll state after recovering from unconsciousness, leaving them unable to stand or move. We also observed that weapons could occasionally be dropped during the ragdoll transition.
This addon addresses both issues while preserving the original mod's impact reactions.
Features
Reliable Ragdoll Recovery
Introduces a timed ragdoll release for living characters, allowing normal animation and movement systems to regain control after a knockdown. Bullet impacts use a three second recovery timer.
Weapon Retention
Attempts to holster a character's equipped weapon immediately before ragdoll activation, preventing unwanted weapon loss during knockdowns.
Original Gameplay Preserved
Retains CasperJ's damage thresholds and the original mod's impact based ragdoll behavior. Normal death and unconsciousness systems are intended to remain under Reforger's control.
Separate Addon
This patch does not replace or redistribute Better Ragdoll. Both addons must be installed.
Development
This patch was developed through practical testing in Arma Reforger Tools, with scripting and debugging assistance from OpenAI's ChatGPT.
Development involved examining the original ragdoll release logic, investigating the interaction between ragdoll physics and Reforger's unconsciousness system, reviewing diagnostic logs, and testing successive revisions.
The final approach uses a simplified timed release and preventative weapon holstering. These changes were tested in Workbench to verify that characters could recover movement and retain their weapons.
Multiplayer compatibility and interactions with other medical or animation mods may require additional testing.
