BCM AI
Bootneck Company Milsim & Modding | Arma Reforger
Realism. Intelligence. Tactical Superiority.
⚠ WORK IN PROGRESS – ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT
OVERVIEW
BCM AI is an artificial intelligence framework for Arma Reforger, developed to make friendly and enemy forces more realistic, responsive and tactically capable.
Our goal is not to give AI unrealistic accuracy or instant reactions. We want believable soldiers and squads that use cover, communicate threats, coordinate manoeuvres and adapt to changing situations.
BCM AI is being developed for the wider standalone BCM mod ecosystem and future BCM game modes, with dedicated-server performance and configurability in mind.
AI SYSTEMS & FUNCTIONALITY
Development goals include:
Tactical Combat: Threat assessment, use of cover, flanking, suppression and repositioning under fire.
Squad Coordination: Coordinated movement, fire support and reactions to contact.
Offensive & Defensive AI: Defending objectives, conducting assaults, counterattacking and responding to changing battlefield conditions.
Dynamic Reinforcements: AI forces reacting to threats and reinforcing contested areas.
AI Command & Control: Coordinating friendly and opposing units through mission objectives and tactical orders.
AI Pilots: Helicopter and aircraft support for transport, insertion and extraction.
Callable Support: Planned AI-controlled close air support (CAS), transport and other battlefield assistance.
PvE Game Modes: Support for BCM-developed scenarios with AI-controlled opposition that can attack, defend and capture objectives.
Customisation: Adjustable AI behaviour, difficulty and support options for different missions.
Multiplayer: Built with dedicated servers, synchronisation and cooperative operations in mind.
These are development objectives, not a list of features already implemented. Features will be introduced and tested progressively; availability may vary by release.
OUR APPROACH
AI should provide a tactical challenge through behaviour rather than artificial advantages.
An AI squad taking fire should attempt to react intelligently: find cover, identify threats, support teammates and manoeuvre when appropriate. Friendly AI should become useful for tactical movement, transport and battlefield support.
Our aim is dynamic, believable engagements that reward teamwork, planning and sound tactics.
THE BCM ECOSYSTEM
BCM AI is part of our growing family of Arma Reforger mods:
BCM Systems: Communications and shared gameplay functionality.
BCM Apparel: Military uniforms and clothing.
BCM Gear: Carriers, pouches and load-bearing equipment.
BCM Equipment: Specialist military devices and accessories.
BCM AI: Tactical AI and AI-controlled battlefield support.
BCM-developed mods and game modes are our integration priority. Our long-term goal is a comprehensive experience without third-party dependencies for core functionality.
