Aiming looks like it does through your own eyes. Your gun, hands and sight body go soft while the target and reticle stay sharp, and magnified scopes get a crisp, clear view with the rifle blurred around it. It covers red dots, holos, iron sights and magnified optics, and works with RHS night vision.
Features
Focus while aiming: each sight type gets its own near blur. Red dots and holos keep the dot readable, irons stay light, and the blur eases in as you raise the weapon instead of popping on.
Edge blur: a subtle blur around the edges of the screen while aiming draws your eye to the sight.
Sharp scope view: on supported magnified scopes, the scope body and rifle blur while the magnified view stays fully sharp. It tilts with you when you lean and blends softly into the eyepiece.
RHS night vision support:
With NVGs on, everything close up is blurrier, because goggles are focused at distance.
Red dots and holos stay usable through goggles.
Magnified day scopes turn into a blur through goggles, like they would in real life.
Your NVGs no longer flip up automatically when you aim through a magnified scope.
Requirements
RHS – Status Quo
How to use
In Settings → Video, set Depth of Field to Bokeh and make sure near depth of field is turned on. Without Bokeh, the blur effects won't show.
Aim. The effects work automatically on red dots, holos, iron sights and supported scopes. There are no extra keybinds.
NVGs work as normal. Press N to turn them on, and they stay on when you aim.
Notes
The sharp scope view appears on scopes that have been set up for it. Other magnified scopes keep the normal game scope, so they're always sharp and never broken.
These are client-side visual effects, but the mod still needs to be on the server's modlist.
Performance cost is minimal. The sharp scope view reuses the image the game already renders.
For modders: adding the sharp scope view to your own optics
Add CDD_SightDOFComponent to the entity that holds the scope's sight component, then set:
Sharp Overlay: ticked to enable the sharp view.
Overlay Scale: resizes the sharp circle to fit the lens. Raise it if the circle is smaller than the eyepiece, lower it if it spills over.
Near Intensity / Edge Blur / Focus Distance: optional per-sight overrides. Leave them at -1 to use the defaults.
