Ptashka Net Launcher

PTASHKA NET LAUNCHER

A handheld anti-drone net launcher modelled on the Ukrainian Ptashka ("birdie"). The pistol fires a canister of eight brass weights. The weights pull open a 3.7 x 3.7 m net, and its strands foul the propellers of any drone they reach. Enough fouled rotors and the drone falls, wrapped in the net.

HOW IT PLAYS
- Fully opens at about 15 m and is still about 2.4 m wide at 24 m, its recommended range. Past about 30 m the net slows and collapses.
- One shot per cylinder. To reload, unscrew the spent cylinder, screw on a loaded one and rack the cocking pin.
- The canister cap flies off ahead of the net, and the spent canister stays in the cylinder until you unscrew it.
- Nets are simulated as real physics sheets. They drape over terrain, snag on trees, walls and vehicles, and stay wrapped round the drones they catch.
- Weight: 1 kg loaded, like the real one. The model is built from reference photos and sized from the receiver's Picatinny rail.

DRONE SUPPORT (no mod required)
- Sammy's Drone System: each fouled rotor damages that motor through SDS's own damage model, and SDS's flight model handles the rest.
- RCD-style drones: a snagged drone loses lift and its motors cut out while the net hangs on.
- Other drones: any drone with rotor or prop slots is supported. It goes down once two rotors stop.
The launcher detects these mods at runtime and depends on none of them. Load whichever drone mod you use.

MULTIPLAYER AND PERFORMANCE
- The server runs the net that counts. Clients draw their own copy from a single launch message, and net nodes are never streamed.
- Detail drops with distance. Nets lying still stop simulating and cost nothing per frame.
