Summary
The Daimler Ferret scout car for the Rhodesian Security Forces: Features a .303 commander, working hatches and visors, live dash gauges, and a driver.
Description
Small, fast, and armed with a .303. The Ferret was the scout car the bush war ran on, with its own crew positions, controls and cockpit.
Crew and turret
Two seats: driver and commander/gunner.
The commander stands turned out behind the .303 by default.
Turn in and he drops into the hull to fight through the periscope. The turret traverses a full 360°
Top and rear turret hatches open and close together. The commander works them from inside with Open Hatches / Close Hatches, or the turn-in key.
Driver
Front, left and right armoured visors, operable only from the driver's seat.
Animated pedals, gear lever and handbrake.
Working dash gauges: RPM, speed (MPH), fuel, and coolant temperature that warms up as you drive.
Armament
Turret-mounted .303 machine gun firing 500-round .303 British belts, ball with tracer.
Three spare belts in the hull.
Damage and handling
Separate hit zones for the engine, fuel tanks, battery and gearbox.
Its own wreck model when knocked out.
Working suspension, steering and wheel spin.
Getting one
RSF/US faction only.
Game Master: listed under vehicles as Ferret Scout Car (.303).
Conflict: request it at a US Large Vehicle Station for 975 supplies, Sergeant rank required.
Loads alongside Project Dingo and other BUSHWAR vehicle mods. It adds itself to the US vehicle list rather than replacing it, so nobody's vehicles disappear.
No dependencies beyond the base game.
With a tip of the bush hat to John Edmond's "George": George did the walking so this crew wouldn't have to...
Enjoy the long awaited Ferret in the BUSHWAR.
