Description

SH Battle Radio – Environmental Radio Effects
SH Battle Radio enhances Arma Reforger’s native radio and VoN system with environmental background noise, procedural radio processing, and realistic signal degradation.
Radio transmissions now sound as if they originate from the transmitting player’s surroundings. Weather, vehicles, aircraft, nearby combat, and reception quality can all influence what receiving players hear.
Features
Uses Arma Reforger’s native radio and VoN systems
No replacement radios or custom radio items
Procedural radio static and environmental textures
Distance and native signal-quality interference
Increasing static and light digital degradation on weak signals
Rain intensity effects
Strong-wind interference
Combined storm processing
Generic ground-vehicle engine noise
Speed-scaled vehicle intensity
Reduced noise when a vehicle engine is stopped
Distinct tracked and armoured vehicle rumble
Helicopter rotor and engine texture
Fixed-wing aircraft engine and wind texture
Swimming and underwater-style muffling
Nearby battlefield activity
Distance- and time-scaled combat intensity
Voice clarity remains the priority
Compatibility
The mod is designed as a non-invasive enhancement layer around vanilla VoN.
It works with:
Vanilla radios
Modded factions
Modded uniforms
Modded maps
Modded vehicles using standard Reforger vehicle simulations
Radio mods that continue to use Reforger’s native VoN pipeline
Multiplayer, dedicated servers, listen servers, and singleplayer testing
Vehicles are identified through their simulation and components rather than prefab-name lists. This allows compatible modded helicopters, aircraft, tracked vehicles, and ordinary vehicles to work automatically.
Performance
Environmental processing runs only while radio packets are being received.
The system does not:
Search the world every frame
Replicate raw environmental audio
Replace the player’s microphone stream
Play audio on dedicated servers
Continuously process inactive players
Nearby combat events are stored in a small, short-lived client cache. Environmental layers are rate-limited to prevent excessive audio playback.
Fail-Safe Design
If environmental detection fails, the sender is outside the receiving client’s replication area, or an effect cannot play, vanilla radio communication continues normally.
Removing or disabling the mod does not affect the underlying radio system.
