Summary
Iwo Jima 2026 is a a detailed recreation of the volcanic island made famous by the 1945 Battle of Iwo Jima.
Description
Iwo Jima is a small volcanic island in Japan’s Ogasawara Islands, forever remembered for the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945; one of the fiercest battles of the Pacific War. Its strategic location made it vital to American air operations, while its rugged volcanic terrain, caves, cliffs, and fortified positions made the battle exceptionally brutal.
This terrain recreates Iwo Jima’s volcanic landscapes, beaches, coastline, hills, and iconic Mount Suribachi, with an emphasis on creating an immersive and playable experience.
More than 80 years later, the island has changed significantly. Vegetation has reclaimed much of the battlefield, erosion and volcanic activity have reshaped the landscape, and many wartime fortifications have been buried or overtaken by nature.
This project will be updated periodically.
