Summary
Show one radio channel at a time in the VON wheel, and open up more only when you need them.
Description
Carrying a long-range radio and a handheld puts ten channel entries on your VON
wheel. Add a vehicle radio and an intercom and it is thirteen. Most of the time
you are using one of them.
FOCN Channel Limit shows ONE channel per radio by default. When you need another,
you open the wheel and ask for it.
CONTROLS
] show one more channel on the highlighted radio
[ show one fewer
Both work while the VON wheel is open and act only on the radio you are pointing
at, so your handheld and your backpack are adjusted independently. You can go up
to that radio's real channel count and no further; you can never go below one.
Keys are rebindable under "FOCN Channel Limit" in the control settings.
BEHAVIOUR
- Per radio, not global. Set your backpack to four channels and your handheld
stays at one.
- Remembered for the session, by radio type. Die, respawn, pick up the same
model of radio, and your channel count is still there.
- Reset on reconnect. Nothing is written to disk.
- Channels you hide are muted, so a hidden channel should not talk over you.
- Purely a personal display preference. Nothing you do here changes anything
for anyone else, and no server-side state is written.
COMPATIBILITY
Works with any radio, vanilla or modded, because it hooks the single point every
VON entry passes through rather than knowing about specific radios.
Deliberately avoids the classes other radio mods extend, so it coexists with
506IRRU Enhanced Radio and Tactical Data Link. It touches only the VON controller's
entry list and the VON menu, both of which those mods leave alone.
TESTING STATUS — unlisted build
Whether muting a hidden channel genuinely stops you receiving on it has not yet
been confirmed in live multiplayer. The engine does not document the scope of
that call. If it turns out to be display-only, a hidden channel would still be
audible with no way to silence it, and this build would need a different approach.
The mod logs a warning if a mute it applied does not take effect, so the case is
observable rather than silent.
Please report: a hidden channel you can still hear, a wheel that does not update
when you press the keys, or any radio whose frequency changes on its own.License
