FIELD ENTRENCHMENT
Take out the entrenching tool every soldier already carries, pick a spot, and throw up an earth embankment for cover. No inventory item, no build zone, no supplies - if you can stand there, you can dig there.
HOW IT WORKS
- Hold the entrenching tool (ALICE or MPL-50) and use it to enter placement mode
- A preview shows where the embankment will sit and whether the ground allows it
- Rotate with C, confirm to start digging
- The soldier plays the digging animation; interrupting it cancels the work
The embankment stops bullets. It is a raised parapet rather than a dug-out pit, because the engine cannot deform terrain at runtime - the cover is real, the hole is not.
BUILT TO BE FAIR
Everything the client asks for is re-checked by the server: cooldown between trenches, ground slope, distance from the player, spacing from other trenches and a per-player limit. The limit survives respawn.
NO CONFLICTS BY DESIGN
The mod adds no key bindings and overrides no vanilla config or prefab - it rides on the placement controls the game already has. That means it does not collide with other mods that touch input, building or the shovel.
