Description
Chaddy-Kazzy Valley lies along the African coast, wedged between the sea and a vast, barren expanse. It is an inhospitable place: sun-scorched sand, sparse thorny shrubs, stunted acacias, and—only at the water’s edge—a life-saving strip of palm trees. A salty wind blows here, and there is hardly any shade.
Tourists rarely make it this far—it is too remote from the big cities. Yet those who do visit say the air smells of salt, spices, and freedom, and that at night, stars light up over the valley—brighter than any others on the entire continent.
