Description

# Incognito: Continuatio — Early Test Build

## What is this?

**Incognito: Continuatio** is the Arma Reforger spiritual successor to *INCON Undercover*, the stealth/incognito/civilian recruitment mod originally built for Arma 3. Continuatio carries forward the same core idea — playing as an undercover operator who has to *behave* like the enemy, not just dress like them — rebuilt from the ground up in Enfusion/EnScript to take advantage of Reforger's AI and perception systems.

This is **not** a finished mod. This is an early test build pushed through Workbench so people can get hands-on with the core suspicion and disguise systems, kick the tires, and report back on what works and what breaks.

## What's in this build?

The core of Continuatio is the **suspicion system** — a hidden meter that tracks how convincing your cover is at any given moment. A few things feed into it:

- **Disguise validity** — your outfit, the weapon you're carrying, and whether your weapon is raised all factor into whether enemy AI perceives you as one of their own.
- **Acoustic detection** — gunfire (suppressed or not, subsonic or not) is heard and reacted to realistically, with different suspicion outcomes depending on distance and sound signature.
- **Alert bands** — suspicion isn't all-or-nothing. As it climbs, enemy AI escalates through stages: a cautious glance, weapons up and watching, taking cover, calling it in, and finally full compromise.
- **Reporting chain** — once you're blown, that information doesn't just vanish. It spreads up the chain — from the enemy who spotted you, to their squad, to their platoon — with realistic radio delays, and can ultimately trigger a QRF response (mission-maker controlled).
- **Knowledge spread & memory** — enemies who've been alerted to you will remember, search, and eventually (plausibly) give up if they can't account for what they saw — they don't just forget the second they lose sight of you, but they also don't hold a grudge forever for no reason.
- **Corpse discovery** — leaving bodies behind has consequences. Enemies finding a corpse will raise suspicion in the area, more so if you're caught standing over it.

## Where we're going with it

This build represents the foundational systems — the "brain" of Continuatio. Coming up next:

- Full gear inspection (headgear, optics, vests — wearing the wrong kit will matter, not just your weapon)
- Automatic redirection when gunfire or explosions happen nearby (so enemies don't tunnel-vision on you if something else kicks off)
- Mission-maker tuning options, so server owners can adjust how forgiving or punishing the suspicion system is

Longer-term, Continuatio is meant to be a foundation other systems can plug into — credential/papers-based access control and similar mods are on the radar as future hooks, but for now those are just ideas on the table, nothing more.

## What we need from you

This is a **testing build** — the goal right now is finding out how this plays in practice, not polishing edge cases. Specifically we're looking for:

- **Does the suspicion system feel fair?** Too easy to get caught? Too forgiving? Tell us where it broke immersion.
- **AI behavior reports** — did enemies react in ways that felt right, or weird/broken? Specific examples (what you were doing, what happened) are gold.
- **Bug reports** — crashes, script errors, anything that didn't behave as described above. Reforger logs help a lot here if you can grab them.
- **General feedback** on pacing — how long did it take before you got caught, did escalation feel gradual or did it jump straight to "everyone knows"?

This is early — expect rough edges. Thanks for helping shape where Continuatio goes from here.

This work will always be known as the spiritual successor Incontinentia's Incon-Undercover script for Arma 3 that can be found at https://github.com/1ncontinentia/Incon-Undercover. Without his initial work many years ago I would not be punishing myself mentally to work on this and hope that I get it even partially working.
