Freedom Fighters

Freedom Fighters is a new game mode mode revolving around guerilla warfare, designed for solo play and co-op with 2 to 8 players. 

It is a persistent campaign spanning from 10 to 60 hours of gameplay, depending on the terrain and difficulty settings. It combines sandbox gameplay with an objective-based campaign. The goal is to capture or neutralize all enemy points of interest on the map in any order, but it can be also played infinitely due to its emergent gameplay style. Whether you want to conduct 8-hour long ops over several months in a persistent campaign with your squad, or jump in for a quick 30-minute supply run twice a week - both playstyles are viable.

A successful takeover will require from you:
- building and developing FOBs in strategic locations
- stocking up on supplies, captured vehicles and gear
- raising money, because to wage war you need three things: money, money and a little bit of money on top of that
- gathering local population support to ensure you are not going into the battle alone
- balancing resistance activity against threat from the enemy
- completing missions for the resistance

The project is inspired by earlier game modes developed by the fantastic Arma series community, such as Antistasi, KP Liberation, Old Man and Overthrow - if you liked any of those, this mod will be your go-to content in Arma Reforger.

PROJECT GOALS

- create an ultimate go-to single player experience in Arma Reforger
- fill the Arma Reforger niche of persistent campaign game modes known from Arma 3
- showcase feasibility of Arma Reforger for such projects
- mix the attention to details and immersiveness of short, one-off style narrative scenarios with the scale and replayability of open world persistent campaigns
- deliver a production-quality bug free experience
- maintain a well-written codebase to support the project development over several years
    - ...and hopefully serve as a foundation to spearhead development of a sequel or similar projects in Arma 4

INSTRUCTIONS

Make sure there are no other mods loaded except for FF and its two dependencies. Freedom Fighters includes two scenarios ("Freedom Fighters - Arland" and "Freedom Fighters - Everon") which you can start in single player, host locally or run on a dedicated server. The save data can be carried on between these modes interchangeably. The scenarios can be played interchangeably, as the save data is stored separately.

IMPORTANT: make sure to disable the MANW edition if you have it installed! Having both mods enabled will break your game.

If you want to backup/restore your save data, it is kept in ".db/FreedomFighters" directory of your profile, which by default resides at:
C:/Users/<username>/Documents/My Games/ArmaReforger/profile/

FF is compatible with controller input on all platforms. Console players cannot host or run single player, but can join MP sessions.

FF uses custom virtualization logic to only simulate the surroundings of active players. If all players decide to split up and go their own ways, this may lead to more "world cells" being active than the server can handle. There are no specific thresholds or capacity limits imposed, as this depends directly on your hardware. If you experience low server FPS, try to group all players back together.

If you are hosting a dedicated server, a periodic restart every 24 hours is recommended.

If you experience save corruption or rolled back progress when closing the server, this is a generic problem with the current saving solution, in which the server process gets killed before the save completes. To work around this problem, you can use the "Force save" option in the "Admin menu" accessible from the pause menu before restarting or shutting down your server.
