Start Sit in any heli → U HUD · I cycle mode · O deploy / stow. HUD only while seated. Rebind: Options → R.O.P.E.S.
Pilot / copilot deploy. They cannot clip onto fast rope or hoist from the cockpit. Passengers and gunners can.
Sling (the one people mess up) 1 hook = 800 kg WLL, max 8 per object (arsenal, 10 supply in Campaign). Place on the load (green ghost, F). Hover → WAITING → O (15 m default, 5–40 m). Ground: hold F ~1.5 s on each hook until READY. Do not lift without READY. In flight, O jettisons all ropes. AIRDROP OK (≥ 50 m AGL) then O for parachute drop.
Fast rope Right arrow = side(s). L = 18 / 27 / 36 m. Down arrow = green light. Space = clip on, S = descend, Shift = faster, X = drop, Space at the top = climb back if a seat is free.
Hoist O, then + / − up to 50 m (~5.5 m/s). Clip from a seat if the tip is within ~2 m (Space), or from the ground with F. Space again within 6 m to board. Mutually exclusive with fast rope.
Grapple / AIRTEP Grapple: 36 or 46 m, 10 rings, F to clip, cannot stow while people are on the line. AIRTEP: 3–40 m, 10 seats, 1500 kg SWL. Sling, grapple and AIRTEP share the belly hardpoint — one at a time.
