Summary

Translated from Swedish, Muren means "The Wall". The map is set between 1961 and 1991.

Description

This map is based in a fictional area inspired by southern regions of Sweden, in an alternate history event.*

1961-1991
In 1942, Germany annexed a small part of Scania called Gripahalvön after a short conflict caused by political tension between Germany and Swedens iron trades, which ended shortly after Per-Albin Hansson approved German requirements regarding their trade.

This created a small pocket in Scania where Germany could harbor boats happening mostly in Hafenmark with a river segregating the majority of the German peninsula and the Swedish mainland, the only exception being the very small piece of land on the peninsula belonging to Sweden, with a town called Västraby.

After the German collapse, the Soviet Union claimed the Gripahalvön peninsula under East German control.
In 1961, along with the construction of the Berlin wall, East Germany built a wall along the border with Sweden, creating severe tension. After some arguing, Sweden agreed to protect the border along with the GDR under the agreement that no espionage would occur over the wall from neither side, and that nobody would cross the border unpermitted.

The border would become the biggest example of the difference between eastern and western architecture and life, and the center of many new headlines during political tension, where Söderhamn and Hafenmark would be shown side by side.

After the Soviet collapse in 1991, Germany handed back the peninsula to Sweden, which tore the wall down in 1994.
