Advanced Helmet Mounted Sight & Display for Helicopter Pilots

The HMSD TopOwl System brings a high-fidelity, pilot-focused Helmet Mounted Sight & Display to Arma Reforger.
It projects real-time flight symbology, weapon cues, sensor overlays and tactical information directly onto the pilot’s visor to significantly improve situational awareness, flight safety and combat effectiveness.

Unlike basic vanilla overlays, this system features physical immersion, advanced damage monitoring, incoming fire detection, smart IFF/GPS tracking and deep performance optimizations for both PC and console.

KEY FEATURES

• Authentic Flight Symbology
  Heading tape, pitch ladder / artificial horizon, altitude (MSL & AGL), airspeed, rotor power (P), bank indicator and boresight — cleanly rendered in the pilot’s FOV.

• Adaptive Weapon Reticle & CCIP
  Dynamic crosshair + CCIP pipper that automatically adapts to the selected weapon (cannon, rockets, missiles).
  Dual-mount support (independent pippers), lead pipper on vehicles, calibrated ballistics and smoothed impact circle.

• Sensor Suite
  – NVG with auto-gain and proper day/night handling
  – Cockpit X-Ray Vision (see through the airframe, optical mode)
  Clean cycles: NVG on/off + X-Ray optical on/off.
  – IR/FLir disabled for the moment .
• Landing Radar Aid
  Ground-projected sector display for precision low-visibility landings.
  Smoothed threats, refined distance bands, low vegetation / tail filter, smaller and more transparent UI.

• Hostile Fire Indicator (HFI)
  Detects incoming small-arms and missile fire, marks origin points and filters false positives from your own munitions.

• Vehicle IFF & GPS Beacons
  Real-time tracking of allied vehicles (up to 2000 m).
  GPS beacon counter displayed directly on allied vehicle IFF markers.
  On foot = chevron marker.

• Ground Troop GPS Beacons
  Ground troops carrying the "Balise GPS Aéro" item are visible on the pilot’s HUD (as long as the pilot has the HMSD cable in his inventory).
  Ideal for coordinating with dismounted teams during insertions, extractions or CAS.

• Avarie / Damage System Monitor
  Real-time status of 6 critical systems (Main Rotor, Tail Rotor, Engine, Transmission, Fuel Tank, Airframe).
  Clear states: OK / MIN / MAJ / HS + fire detection.

• Full Immersion
  Simply keep the HMSD cable in your inventory — the system activates automatically.
  Display instantly cuts off if the pilot is knocked unconscious.
  Works in pilot, co-pilot/gunner and door-gunner seats (door gunners get reduced reticle size & opacity).

• Takeoff Safety
  Wingspan / rotor scan at takeoff (shape adapted to the helicopter). Ground points must be green before liftoff.

• Ground Footprint
  Visual ground footprint in first person for low approaches.

• Universal Compatibility
  Faction and vehicle agnostic — works with most vanilla and modded helicopters.

• Console-Friendly
  Soft performance preset (lighter X-Ray) + extensive FPS optimizations (event-driven systems, caching, reduced scans, etc.).
