Summary
Ensures group names persist throughout the session by removing automatic resets. Custom names set by players or GMs are preserved even when the group becomes empty or leadership changes.
Description
The Group Name Preserve mod is a lightweight QoL mod designed to maintain unit identity and organizational structure in multiplayer operations. It prevents the game from automatically wiping customized group names and descriptions during standard gameplay events such as leadership transitions or when a group becomes temporarily empty.
Features:
- Persistent Group Identity: Custom names and descriptions are "locked" once set. They won't revert to defaults (e.g., "Atlas 1") when members join/leave or leadership changes.
- Smart Logic: Intelligently distinguishes between intentional player/GM renames and automatic system resets (empty names with no author).
- Mission Stability: Ideal for dedicated server environments and long-running operations where unit hierarchy needs to remain consistent.
- Zero Configuration: Works out of the box. As soon as a group is renamed via standard menus, the mod handles the persistence automatically.
Usage Instructions:
1. Renaming: Use the standard group management interface (Player Menu) or Game Master (Zeus-style) menus to set a custom group name.
2. Persistence: The name will now persist indefinitely within the session.
3. Clearing/Updating: You can still rename the group at any time. The mod only blocks the automatic "blank" resets that usually occur during group reshuffling.
