Description
The overall mix in FinalMix.afm was rebalanced to keep the WarTapes Incrusion identity while improving gameplay clarity.
Originally, weapon fire, explosions, and several heavy SFX buses were so dominant that other important gameplay sounds were often masked. This mainly affected player voice, vehicle audio, footsteps, and gear movement. The goal of the changes was not to make
the mod flat or quiet, but to reduce the most extreme parts of the mix so important sounds remain audible during normal gameplay.
Weapon and explosion buses were lowered to stop gunfire from constantly overpowering everything else. Direct player gunshots were also reduced further so vehicles and other gameplay sounds do not disappear completely during firefights. Voice presence inside
vehicles was improved so communication is less suppressed while riding in them.
Vehicle audio was adjusted as well, because vehicles were previously too easy to detect at long range due to how strongly they were represented in the mix. The vehicle buses were reduced carefully to make distant vehicles feel less exaggerated, while still
keeping nearby vehicles present.
Footsteps and gear sounds were raised because many players lower the overall volume of this sound mod instead of using it at full volume. In that situation, movement sounds became too quiet and often disappeared completely. With the current adjustments,
those sounds should stay more noticeable even when the mod is turned down.
The main goal was to keep the aggressive, cinematic WarTapes feel while making the mix more functional in real gameplay. Sonic cracks, near-miss effects, and the overall weapon character were preserved as much as possible, but the mix was tuned so that
voice, vehicles, and movement sounds are less likely to get buried.
