The autumn mist hangs heavy over the Chernarussian countryside, a damp shroud over a nation holding its breath. To the outside world, this is a land of rolling hills, quiet farming villages, and dense forests. But to those on the ground, it's a powder keg waiting for a spark.
Political tensions between the Chernarussian government and the pro-separatist Chernarussian Movement of the Red Star (ChDKZ) have reached an all-time high. The government, backed by Western advisors, struggles to maintain control as the ChDKZ, supplied by an unnamed foreign power, gains influence in the rural provinces. Their rhetoric grows bolder, their patrols more aggressive. War is not yet declared, but its agents are already at work in the shadows.
As a member of a forward reconnaissance team, you are tasked with operating deep within this volatile region. Your mission is to conduct covert surveillance, gather intelligence on ChDKZ troop movements, and assess the true military strength of the separatists without triggering an open conflict.
Key Areas of Operation:
The Green Sea: The vast, dense forests that cover much of the region. They provide excellent concealment for movement but are notoriously difficult to navigate. Local hunting trails and logging roads are now being used by ChDKZ patrols. Every rustle of leaves could be a contact.
The Villages of the Interior: From Zelenogorsk to Stary Sobor, the small villages are the hearts and minds of this conflict. Some locals are fiercely loyal to the government, while others secretly harbor and supply ChDKZ fighters. Discerning friend from foe is a constant, deadly challenge.
The Coastal Road: This main supply artery is officially under government control, but ambushes have become increasingly common. Civilian traffic is sparse as fear grips the population, making any vehicle a potential target or threat.
Balota Airfield: A key strategic asset, currently operated by government forces and their Western advisors. Intelligence suggests a major ChDKZ assault on this position is imminent, aimed at capturing a critical resupply point.
Threats:
ChDKZ Recon Teams: Small, well-equipped separatist units actively patrolling the forests and countryside. They are highly motivated and have the home-field advantage.
Local Militias: Unpredictable, poorly disciplined groups sympathetic to the ChDKZ. Their loyalty is questionable, and their rules of engagement are non-existent.
Hidden Caches: The separatists have been stockpiling weapons and supplies for months. These hidden caches, often in barns, basements, or forest bunkers, are priority targets for intelligence gathering.
Objective: Your team must operate unseen, gathering the critical intelligence needed to predict the ChDKZ's next move. Every action must be weighed against the risk of escalating this cold conflict into a hot war. The fate of Chernarus rests on the information you can provide, and your ability to get it out alive.
