Year 2025. After months of rising tensions and protests, the city of Anizay declared independence, becoming a free city under international supervision. In an effort to provide relative safety for its residents, the new authorities — supported by coalition forces — established a security zone, surrounding the city with a controlled border and setting up multiple checkpoints. Unfortunately, the strategic location of the oil refinery in the southern part of the metropolis proved too valuable to leave unguarded. The fight for control over the industrial facilities escalated into a full-scale conflict, which rapidly spilled far beyond the district's borders.
