Operation PAPYRUS

At first light on 28 June 2025, a French-led task force moves into the desert to clear three small villages—Bum, Gorqan and Janur—of local militias and hidden Russian advisors. Supported by armored units and air cover, they sweep each town one by one, rooting out enemy fighters and improvised threats. Once Janur falls, they establish a forward patrol base and prepare for any counter-strike. Throughout the operation, civilians are kept safe as the force pushes its security zone east from their desert camp.
