Operation Iron Resolve
Date: June 2025
Location: Odesa, Donbas, and Dnipro regions, Ukraine
Unit: 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit [11th MEU(SOC)], supported by Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group
Mission Type: Joint NATO combat advisory and rapid-response operations.
In late June of 2025, following escalating hybrid warfare and renewed offensives by Russian-backed separatists in Eastern Ukraine, NATO invoked Article 5 after a missile strike on Polish soil killed five NATO personnel. As part of the alliance's unified response, the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit was rapidly deployed to Ukraine under the codename Operation Iron Resolve.
