WARNO: OBSIDIAN SPEAR Date: 1/19/2024 Operation Name: OBSIDIAN SPEAR Time: 1900 EST Local time: 2100 SITUATION: Enemy Forces: FSA Composed of former Russian Military members under General Andreski Ruminov. Equipped with Soviet-era Russian equipment and vehicles. Occupies fortified fighting positions. Friendly Forces: VRT JSOC Newly formed, primarily from the 75th Ranger Regiment. Operated in conjunction with MARSOC and the 160th SOAR. MISSION: VRT JSOC units will deploy to assault the enemy-controlled industrial compound codenamed BOLT. Objective: Destroy 4 of the 6 generators across three facilities to shut down local telecommunications. The third facility will be overloaded and shut down if 4 generators are destroyed. Follow-up: Conduct a snatch and grab operation on General Andreski Ruminov once telecommunications are disrupted. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Special Teams/Task Organization: MARSOC: Responsible for generator destruction at BOLT and reconnaissance of LASSIE. 160th SOAR: Transportation of tier one units and high-value individuals (HVI), along with Medevac operations. 75th Ranger Rifle Regiment: Assault force at BOLT and in charge of capturing the HVI. Common Equipment/Uniform: Terrain: Eastern European, Spring/Summer. Smoke Colors: GREEN: Marking friendly positions and pickup locations. PURPLE: Marking Medevac positions. WHITE: Obscuring enemy positions. RED: Marking enemy positions. Flares No flares will be used. Enemies likely to use flares. TENTATIVE TIME SCHEDULE: Operation Start Time: 1900 EST Estimated Duration: 2-3 hours. Local Time: ~2100 SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: All helicopters must remain below 0500 feet AGL due to the presence of active AAA positions at the airfield.
