Ile de Fay

Ile de Fay is a small rocky island in the North Atlantic located northwest of Everon. The villages of Port Fay, Loix, and Saran form the population centers of the island. Two harbors connect the island to the Malden Islands and serve as the main hub of the island's fishing industry. Banzet Creek runs down the center valley of the island connecting Fountain Lake to the sea.
 
The island was originally settled by the French but later gained independence alongside the Malden Islands. Its location between Kolguyev, Nogova, and Everon has led to two incursions by Soviet forces; the first being the emergency landing of a helicopter carrying Colonel Guba following the liberation of Nogova in the autumn of 1982. Nearly three years later, Soviet forces occupied the island as an outpost during the Malden Islands Crisis of 1985. They used the base as a medium range SAM site as well as a supply depot. The island was liberated by United States forces as they chased the Soviets back to Kolguyev later that year. Fears have been rising from both locals and NATO alike over another flashpoint in the region as Soviet presence in the area builds.
