Wake Island is a remote U.S. territory in the central Pacific Ocean, about halfway between Hawaii and the Philippines. It is a small atoll consisting of a coral reef and three islands: Wake, Peale, and Wilkes. Historically, it was an important military base during World War II, notably for the U.S. defence of the Pacific. Wake Island was also the site of a fierce battle in 1941 when Japanese forces attempted to seize it. Today, it remains unincorporated, with no permanent population, and is primarily used for military purposes.

This virtual take on the real island primarily uses vanilla assets, which gives it a more European than Pacific island feel. This called for a fair amount of artistic licence - but I strived to preserve the essence of its real-life counterpart while crafting an environment that's fun and engaging for virtual operations.
