Description

S.C.O.P.E. — Surveillance, Control & Observation of Airspace
WORK IN PROGRESS.
Two kits in every faction arsenal, equipment, 2×1, supply cost 0: dish and monitor. Quick slot, aim, F. Full-size ghost, about 12 m. Dish goes on ground, roof, or a crate. Never on a vehicle.
On place, the server gives the dish a unique 4-character code. Read it on the pickup action. Tune a monitor to that code. No radar of your faction on that code: NO SIGNAL. Only your faction can adjust the site. Another faction keeps the objects, not the controls.
The dish turns once every 4 seconds. It paints only the azimuth the beam is crossing. Between sweeps the plot does not follow. Terrain, a building, or a vehicle on the ray masks the plot. It is not refreshed, and it drops on the next sweep. A plot holds a bit over one turn (~4.6 s) if it is not repainted. Cap: 48 plots. The dish only sweeps if at least one monitor of its faction is tuned to its code. Painted distance is the highest range those screens ask for, capped at 10 km. A screen set to 500 m still shows 500 m.
Scope is north-up, green trace, green plots. Four rings, equal quarters of the selected range. World map locked on the antenna and the selected range (Everon, Arland, Cain, or the mission map). Missing map: NO DATA, scope still runs.
Each plot: callsign on the point. List, top left, nearest first: callsign, range, altitude ASL, heading, speed. Heading and speed only on the second pass. Heading only if the aircraft moved at least 8 m on the ground, taken from that move, not from the nose. Speed in km/h. Counter bottom left.
Automatic callsigns, given by the server to your faction on first plot, kept outside the beam:
12-HE-NO — helicopter, no transponder
3-AV-NO — plane, no transponder
A "?" means painted this pass, not identified yet. A blue plot means a helicopter crew member is wearing the HMSD cable (pilot, copilot, turret, door gun, cargo). Without that mod, plots stay green. Planes stay green.
No aircraft name is written in the mod. Safe range comes from the real airframe and what is actually loaded. A large or loaded aircraft is named farther out. Floor keeps a small aircraft from vanishing at 200 m: about 2.5 km safe minimum. Reference ceiling 10 km. Inside the safe range, named every pass. Beyond that, one draw per sweep: name, "?", or nothing. Order of magnitude: safe around 5 km, still visible around 6.5 km, gone around 9 km.
Transponder, helicopter, pilot seat, engine menu.
Code: letters, digits, dash, 2 to 10 characters. Empty clears it. Two aircraft of the same faction cannot share a code. Faction is the pilot who validates, not the prefab.
ON: radars of that faction paint and name it out to the edge of the selected disc. Terrain still masks it. Displayed callsign becomes the entered code.
OFF: signature returns, automatic callsign returns, code stays in memory.
Planes are painted (AV) and numbered. No menu.
Monitor corners, within 2 m. Pickup and fuse within 1 m. Only your faction sees the actions.
Top left: frequency. 4 letters or digits. Empty cuts it. Bad format does nothing. A valid code with no friendly radar is kept: NO SIGNAL, frequency still shown.
Bottom left: brightness, 0 to 10, starts at 7. 0 adds no light. 10 is full day.
Bottom right: scan range. 500 m, 1 km, 2 km, 4 km, 6 km, 8 km, 10 km. Starts at 500 m.
Top right: hold to pick up.
Middle of each edge: Fuse, or Split if already linked.
Monitors snap edge to edge within 12 cm, same plane. Fuse hides the frames, joins the glass, and shares frequency, range, brightness, and picture. Text scales with the wall. Controls only on the outer corners.
Pickup: hold the action, within 4 m, free inventory slot.
Vanilla and modded helicopters and planes. Multiplayer. Optional: HMSD TopOwl System for blue plots on cabled helicopter crew.
There is a mast. It is still WIP.
