Summary
Hand-pick which Conflict bases can talk over radio. Put one Link Book in your scenario, link bases with World Editor shortcuts, and every linked base only connects to its partners, whatever distance.
Description
RES Base Links lets a scenario maker decide by hand which bases can reach each other by radio, instead of leaving it to radio range.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires nothing but Arma Reforger.
Load RES Base Links after any mod that changes base radio links. Such mods replace the same radio rules, and the one loaded last wins. 10 seconds after the map starts, the server log shows either "Link Book verified" or an error telling you to fix the order.
HOW IT WORKS
- One Link Book entity per scenario lists base pairs. Every link works both ways.
- Two bases that are both in the book connect only if they are linked. Range is ignored.
- Bases not in the book keep normal radio range among themselves.
- A base in the book and one outside it don't connect, unless you tick "Allow Unlisted Radios" on the Link Book.
- No Link Book, or an empty one, means normal vanilla behaviour.
- Factions and encryption work as usual: capture, spawning and victory follow the links.
FOR MAP MAKERS (World Editor)
Give every base you want to link a name in Object Properties. Then select bases and press:
- Ctrl+Alt+L: link the 2 selected bases (creates the Link Book on the first link)
- Ctrl+Alt+H: make the selected base the hub
- Ctrl+Alt+J: link all selected bases to the hub
- Ctrl+Alt+U: unlink (2 bases: that link; 1 base: all its links)
- Ctrl+Alt+K: check the book (broken names, unlinked bases, duplicate books)
Each change is one undo step, and links are drawn as lines in the editor. Add RES Base Links as a dependency of your scenario mod.
FOR TESTING
Tick "Debug Log" on the Link Book to print the full radio graph to the server log. The mod includes a demo scenario, "[RES] Base Links Test (Arland)".
