Arma Reforger is still in active development with more features, assets, systems, and improvements added with each update. Even though it has been out of early access since November 16, 2023, there is more work to be done, as per the project roadmap. And we're not stopping there, as development will continue beyond the roadmap with the legendary Kolguyev terrain and more!
Due to ongoing active development, there are two versions of the game publicly available: Arma Reforger (main application) and Arma Reforger Experimental (experimental application).
Main Application
This is the version of the game available on all three platforms, and all the vanilla (unmodded) features are identical across platforms. This is listed as Arma Reforger in the Steam Library, PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store on Xbox. They all have identical weapons, vehicles, terrains, game modes, etc. The only difference is platform-specific graphical and controller settings.
The Arma Reforger application is not updated on any platform in advance before the others. Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation maintain the same version of the game. This is to ensure an equal playing field and maximum compatibility for cross-platform gameplay.

Experimental Application
As we are constantly bringing new features and improvements to Arma Reforger, we need to be able to test all of them at a more rapid pace without the risk of destabilizing it. This is where the Arma Reforger Experimental comes in.
Its main purpose is to test new features and systems on a larger scale in a live environment. Players can try out new features before they are released to the main application earlier, but they are not yet fully completed and require further optimizations and bug fixing.
In order to maintain a more regular pace of releases and feedback, we have adapted our process to release these types of experimental updates to Steam at this time.
Experimental application is also gathering gameplay data to help with further optimizations. The debugger runs in the background once you launch the game and may impact performance, so expect occasional framerate dips.
As the game version is different from the main application and has vastly different features or systems, the two are not compatible. No need to worry about a player on an experimental version joining a server on the main application with newer features, assets, or other improvements. Everybody is playing with the same features on each server.
Feedback Tracker
A key component of Arma Reforger and Arma Reforger Experimental is the Feedback Tracker. The point of playing Experimental is to submit bug reports for us to address.
Feedback Tracker (how-to guide).
Please mark your exact version number and usage of the experimental build clearly.
Please also try to replicate the issue in an un-modded build.
Please prioritize reports on issues new to the experimental build (not present in the main release build).

Modding
One of the key aspects of Arma Reforger is its modding scene and the open nature of Enfusion engine to allow modders to create new and exciting assets, game modes, scenarios, and much more. But as the development of the game and most importantly engine progresses, so do the behind-the-scenes systems used to run the game. And sometimes this means a mod created for one version will no longer work in the next version.
That is yet another reason we offer the experimental application to PC players. This way modders can utilize the latest version of the game to update and prepare their mods for the release of the main application. We always encourage modders to follow our Dev Hub, which contains a lot of useful information regarding the game and engine changes in the upcoming versions to ease the transitions.

We hope this has cleared things up for new players who were confused by having two separate applications in their Steam Library, and or console players who were looking for the latest Experimental version in their consoles with no luck. This may change in the future, but for now, PC is our platform of choice for the Experimental application.
