Since the launch of Arma Reforger, community servers have helped introduce players to different communities, game modes, and mods across all platforms that aren't available on official servers. However, we recognize that operating these servers is not without cost, and many server owners have been asking us for legitimate ways to offset their hosting expenses. That's why today, we would like to announce that Arma Reforger Server Monetization will officially be allowed under a new policy, provided the servers are registered, approved, and listed on our official server page, effective immediately.
While we know this change will excite many server owners, but it’s important to understand the clear limitations and acceptable uses of this policy:
Access & Cosmetic Perks: Charging players to access your server, if the fees and associated perks do not affect gameplay in any way, is allowed. Cosmetic perks are allowed. Limiting access to only paying players is allowed.
Advertising: Product placement, in-game advertising, and sponsorship are allowed.
In-game Items: Selling of in-game items, that don’t affect gameplay, is allowed.
For example, you can provide unique clothing patches, but things such as paying for a ghillie suit, weapons, attachments, etc. could provide an unfair advantage and affect gameplay.
Donations: Accepting donations is allowed, but not providing donations must not prevent anyone from accessing any content.
If you have additional questions about what is or isn’t permitted, we encourage you to review our FAQ.
Those interested in being part of server monetization must apply on our website. The overview page also lets our community report servers that may be exploiting loopholes or otherwise not acting in the community’s best interests. We know there may be some heated discussion about these rules, and we understand not everyone is comfortable with the idea of money being involved. However, this policy operates very similarly to our Arma 3 Server Monetization Policy. Just like before, none of the monetized server income goes to us, and these rules also do not make it acceptable to use or monetize content made by third parties without proper permission. While we cannot resolve Intellectual Property disputes between third parties, we can remove these permissions from a server if necessary. We ask everyone in our community to treat each other with respect. If a piece of content is not distributed under a clear license that allows its use, please seek permission first. That is the only way to build a long-term, successful community, server, or mod.
Servers must be listed on the approved server list. If we determine that any server is exploiting loopholes or not acting in the best interests of the Arma Reforger community, we reserve the right to remove them from the list. If removed, the server must immediately cease monetization or face potential legal action. We may also request evidence of authorization for any mods used on your server, such as written permission from mod authors. Failure to provide this evidence may result in disabling the mod or removing the server from the approved list.
As part of this update, we've also updated our Arma Reforger Workshop Terms of Use. The new terms are already live. For questions or to apply, please visit our website.
Thank you for your continued support of the Arma Reforger community. We look forward to seeing how this change helps our community grow.
