Since announcing our exciting new modding competition, we've received a wave of questions from our eager community looking to get started. We've gathered some of the most common inquiries to ensure everyone has the clearest possible understanding of the rules and submission process. We have also made two adjustments to clarify the rules, which are documented below. We encourage all participants to review these answers and changes carefully.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why host the competition now?

The Make Arma Not War 2025 competition is our way of giving back to the dedicated modding community while helping to launch the next generation of mods on the Enfusion engine. This competition presents an exciting opportunity to engage both new and veteran modders as we continue to develop the engine that will power the future of our titles, while also providing a chance to learn and grow alongside it.

How do I apply the category tag in Workbench?

This has been a point of confusion for some. However, when submitting your entry to the Arma Reforger Workshop, you do not submit to a “category tag” to enter; instead, manually enter the prize category under "tags" below it. You must include MANW_2025 and the relevant prize category (Assets, Playable_Content, or Wildcard).

How does a mod that is modular or has multiple parts/dependencies submit for this competition as one?

A mod with multiple parts or dependencies should be submitted under a primary Workshop entry. The mod author or team should designate one core mod as the main submission and list all additional parts as dependencies. All components should be tagged with the appropriate competition category to ensure the entry is properly considered. Additionally, the primary entry description may clarify that the dependencies are part of the primary Workshop entry to avoid any confusion.

The rules mention that participants can submit only one entry per category, but the FAQ states that submissions are unlimited. Which is correct?

The FAQ is correct, and we apologize for any confusion caused by the wording. Participants can submit as many entries as they want, but each unique entry can only be submitted to one category. For example, if you have Mod A and Mod B, you can submit both to the "Assets" category, but you cannot submit either mod to both "Assets" and "Playable Content." Please remember that we evaluate entries based on technical quality, not quantity.

How do I enter my Date of Birth in the Billing section of my Bohemia Interactive Account?

The requirement to submit a “Date of Birth” in the billing section was mistakenly included in the Rules and Submission Guide. This has already been corrected. Only winners and/or finalists will be asked to provide proof of age for prize verification purposes at a later date. All participants must be over 16 years of age.

If a member of a modding team lives in a country subject to EU sanctions, but the mod uploader does not, does that make us ineligible for prizes?

We cannot send money or prizes to countries subject to EU sanctions. However, eligibility is determined by the location of the designated recipient of the prize. As long as the designated representative resides outside of a sanctioned country, they are eligible to receive the prize. Please note that we are not responsible for redistributing prizes to other members of a modding team.

Does an entry have to be made after the start of this competition?

There is no restriction on submitting mods created before the start of the competition. As long as the original creator is entering the mod, we have no issue with entries developed for Arma Reforger before now. However, we strongly encourage the creation of new mods or innovative ideas for this competition, as originality may be considered in the evaluation of finalists.

Why can't a mod be updated between the final submission and the announcement of winners? Can't the submitted version be rolled back for evaluation?

Due to the volume of submissions and the complexity of managing updates during the evaluation period, we cannot roll back mod versions for judging. To ensure your submission remains eligible, we encourage participants planning to update their mod after the deadline to upload a separate version specifically for the contest.

Since presentation matters, will there be design tweaks to better showcase submissions in the in-game and web versions of the Workshop?

Entries will eventually be featured on our Make Arma Not War 2025 website and in special sections of the in-game Workshop to highlight the submissions. However, for final evaluation, the judging will be based solely on the criteria outlined in the rules, not on the presentation of the mod in the Workshop.

What are the limitations regarding third-party resources or licensing? Can we use resources with Attribution Non-Commercial 3.0/4.0, MIT, or Creative Commons licenses without disqualifying our mod, or do we need explicit permission from the original creators?

Mod authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions comply with all legal licensing requirements. Any third-party resources used in a submission must be properly licensed for use, and mod authors may be asked at any time to provide proof of ownership, source, or legal authorization to use such assets and/or resources. To avoid violations of the contest rules, submissions must not infringe on copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights. If using resources under licenses, they must ensure they adhere to the terms of those licenses, including attribution and any restrictions on commercial use.

Are entries that include external software or coding allowed?

All contest entries must be fully self-contained and capable of running independently within the Arma Reforger Workshop. Submissions that rely on third-party applications, external servers, or additional software will be disqualified.

Why should I enter this competition as a beginner or solo modder?

We do not judge mods based on the size of the team or the scale of the mod. The competition is judged on quality and criteria outlined in our contest rules, meaning a well-executed idea from a solo modder can have just as much impact as a large team’s work. If you’re passionate about bringing your vision to life, this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and bring it to the community. Every submission has the potential to stand out if you focus on creativity and contest criteria.

Rule Amendments

Based on previous questions and feedback, we want to provide better clarity and communicate our intentions to the community. To do so, we have made the following minor adjustments to the Contest Rules:

  • Rule Amendment #1:

    • Removal of "Date of Birth" from the Registration section of requirements.

  • Rule Amendment #2:

    • Changing "Participants can submit only one Entry per category." TO "Participants can submit unlimited unique entries, but each entry may only be submitted to one category."

We’re excited to see the fantastic submissions the community will bring to life in Make Arma Not War 2025! We hope this article helped clarify the process and inspires even more of you to join this exciting era of learning and creativity.
